You're wrong.
I have 2 linux machines and no need for a Windows box. Most windows programs have a linux equivalent, and if they don't I can run the windows program through WINE. www.winehq.com

It IS because of the OS, Microsoft admittedly always release software very early before it has been fully tested. Linux being open source, has a testing community of 100's of 1000's of people, making it extremely stable.
