Yup definitely insane, coz I have to drive too and from the airport here, which will make a very long day... but it'll be fun for sure :o)

I will check on flights tomorrow, and let you know definitively as soon as I have. If tickets are open, and prices aren't silly, I'm in.

The last time I looked the airfare was relatively cheap but a weekend is too short....still drooling over the thought at the moment.

Outside of a minor tax issue and some big ticket purchases, if I still have a bank account left, might still be a thought...not highly likely but a thought.

I returned from my trip yesterday and now I need to get over the "Oh no, I am back depression," at work (extra difficult).

Well, you've only got to survive this week before we come over and liven things up again ;o)

You guys are all (Kiwi, Anni, Chiqui, Manic, Dave) crazy! In a good way. :)

I cannot recommend anything, because I always stayed at my Granny in the Slotervaart suburb and nowadays at my aunt in the Jordaan. I live about 40km to the North and don't have space available (it's not mine).

Here are some suggestions to check:
Bed and Breakfast
There are various price ranges. But you have to look up the streets (there are to many for me to check) to see if they are a bit near the centre.

Another Bed and Breakfast site.

Sleeping on houseboats

Hotel 'd Amsterdam Close to everything, single rooms between EUR 50-80, breakfast included. This is just a suggestion, browse the main hoteliers.nl site for other hotels.

Another hotel site, with selection between budget middle and high.

I am sure you'll find something, thanks for comming!

Yeah, it is going to be a hard week. :)

Cool that you and Juneisy changed your minds. 21.45 is your departure time or check-in?

There will now be more foreigners than there will be Dutch. :)

2145 is our departure time so have to be at the airport no later than 2045.

Actually, all sorted, I'll be at the Hotel Fita, around the corner from the museum district.

I'll be at Central Station around noon.

Hi,
I am tempted by this GTG. I do not know exactly my plans for this weekend, but I'd love to come (i'll be coming from belgium, so it's quite close).
So, what's the final plan for this meeting? museum and then haineken experience? or musem and walk in the city, in case the weather is nice? (ok, you might guess, I am not haineken lover :P, prefer the belgian beer :-o)
Hope to meet you this sunday. I'll let you know at the end of the week wether I'll come or not.
Cheers,
Bianca

I think the Heineken Museum will also be a little too much for the agenda, especially after the Bresson exhibition. Hope to see you on Sunday Bianca, try your best come if you can.

If past GTGs that I've attended are anything to go by, it's usually food then walking around for a few hours then food/booze :o) As for when people start shooting, that's usually continuous...
01/17/2006 04:24:44 PM · #41
Don't worry about the Heineken Experience as Manic says, the food/booze part will take up some time and I too expect that the Heineken Experience will be a bit too much. I think that many of you need to catch trains and planes so the meeting is more important than standing in line for a beer museum. The FOAM is close to the Rembrandsplein, near to the Tuschinki I mentioned earlier, with some cafes. And at the moment there is a bronze lifesize representation of Rembrandt's Nachtwacht there.
It's Rembrandt-year this year, so they also have special Rembrandt walking routes (to get a feel of the city as it was during his life). I'll see if I can get a route description, could be interesting. We'll see. 'Niets moet, alles mag.' (wonder if you can figure that last part out) :)

Since we are flying in and out on the same day, and flying with a tripod is very time consuming do the fact they have to be checked in, I was wondering if anyone had a spare tripod I could borrow for the day.

We won't be bringing a tripod with us, sorry. But you are only there during the day so you won't really need one anyway will you? Philos will probably lend you one I guess.

I like to do panos so having a tripod is nice but definitely not essential.

I have a tripod if you wanna use it, but you have to carry it yourself. I am lazy :)
