March 4, 2006 is the date of America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk, Utica NY. This event raises funds for the American Heart Association. Utica NY is a small city and it is known for raising the highest dollar amount, beating cities like Detroit on an individual basis. (Detroit raises more, not much, but that is primarily based on Corporate Donations)
My Sister Rebecca has had 3 Heart Surgeries. 1974, when she was 6, 1994 and a repair in 1997.
She is living proof of the importance of research money. In 1974 her surgery was an experiment, simply to have this child live alittle longer. After 20yrs of research they were able to develop a device to correct her. In 1994 she had this experimental device which has corrected her heart and it beats the same as yours and mine now. Wow that 1974 surgery was SOME experiment. BTW, that surgery is now able to be done on infants merely days/hours old.
