Does anyone have recommendations for a decent hot shoe flash system that is compatible with the Nikon D50? I would like a 2 flash setup up, 1 for the camera and 1 as a slave. For the slave flash, are light triggers effective?

Thanks in advance!

the nikon flash system is second to none for off camera ttl flash.

Do you have a link to the specific system you are talking about? I searched for it but a couple different things came up.

Also, Does anyone have advice on how to synch the flashes? Is a light trigger sufficient?

I've got an SB-800. It's amazing. It and the SB-600 are the big players on the market. Nikon Flashes

optical triggers are sufficient indoors and if you are the only one using flash. Outdoors the bright sunlight can cause issues.
the probelm is, to do TTL you have to have one flash on the hotshoe, so pocket wizards and the like won't work. You are limited to the manufacturer's trigger system.
Besides Nikon, you could look at Sigma EF500DG super - less expensive and theyhave a built in wirelsss tigger system.
