Lately...I've been entering challenges with more and more risky and "different" photo's. While they havn't been doing horribly...they just havn't done really great either. As of right now my "Best of" is at a 5.2, "Food" is at a 5.8, and "Singled Out" is at a whopping 4.8. The singled out photo is deffinately the most different of the three...it is a good photo technically wise, but it just goes against all the rules...like not following the rule of thirds and stuff like that.
So...after a while of pondering (about two minures actually...) I have decided that for the next 10 or so challenges I am going to enter nothing but "DPCish" style photo's. That's right...It's gunna be all flowers, water droplets, and wine glasses from me. I'm still going to take my own pictures with my own style...but I'm going to go out of my own box and take some normal pictures for the challenges, as wierd as that sounds.
I just want to see how the DPC style of photos compares to my style of photos.
Anyways...I just thought I'd share this with you guys. I'm not trying to say anything by it really, I just think it will be a fun little experiment thing. So be on the lookout...because the next picture of a rose you see, it could be mine:P

Haha...I think it will be fun.
I'll switch back to my normal style of photo's after I do a few like this. I'm not going to change the way I shoot just for DPC, lol.
Oh...and I won't be starting til after the roads challenge. I already have a freaking cool one for that.

If you make all that the background for a macro of a flea on a puppy's nose I think you'll have it covered ... |

So I went out and bought a rose....Lol, that's my first attempt at shooting DPC style.
I've never taken pictures of flowers before about an hour ago.
But what do you guys think of my first attempt? You think I have potential to be cliche?

Nope, not cliche enough yet. Try something like this... :P
BTW - That rose was orange, I recolored it in PS

Hi Caleb! Think of DPC as a client and you typically cater to what the client needs. As a budding photographer, you typically set your style to what the client prefers and likes. However, make a name for yourself, and soon before you know it, you can soon post photos that is "you" and people will like it ;)
Just my two cents. |

Haha...well, mine is red...but I shot it with an infrared filter. So it turned out white.
Crap...I need to work on my cliche-ness

I tried this same experiment for a little while:
I finished 4th, 9th, 2nd, 12th and 6th (with a random 68th thrown in there) during the testing period.

I think you nailed it! And don't forget to be in some obscure country too, something with really NICE b/g scenery!! Preferably still waters in front of huge mountains in reflect! GO get`em! LOL...
Me? Oh, for something like the fantasy challenge, I just uploaded neat image, took a photo of any old thing and neat imaged it to surrealness. :)

That is very interesting. I guess we all pretty much know then what is and isn't appealing here.
Personally, I think most should stick with their own style, and hopefully they do, even when doing that water drop. LOL... Otherwise, I think this would make a great challenge!
"Create the photo you think is the most DPC'erish" :)
Then we can see who has the best of the best of the best of the best...well, you get the idea.
