just wanted to clarify something about me handing out low scores...
I've only just changed my scoring system and I think you will see the average go up.
Until now I would give my favourite picture a 10, then there are maybe a handful of 9's and 8's, and then it almost goes like a pyramid down to one.... I think I was trying too much to rank the pictures rather than score them on an individual basis... I never scored compared to my own picure though...
Anyway, I admit to having been unfairly harsh on some pictures and I think you will see my average given score go up!
so point taken on that!
As for the desaturation on my pic... seems like a split camp... I've had a few comments from people liking it and a few that haven't... I like it in this case especially in context of the challenge. but that's taste. I just want to make sure that when I decide to desaturate a picture I do it in the best technical way!

Thanks again for all your comments.

Graphicfunk once told me to comment on as many photos as possible. I still think that's a little impossible for me to do (I'm a lousy critique), but I'm trying to see what other people like about their own photos. Each photo submitted for a challenge, I try to find what's lovely about it, and vote it as if it's my own. That explains the high votes I usually give out. But we are all still learning here, and there are so many to learn about photography. Quitting just isn't the way to go.
