Ok so I finally moved up to an SLR. I just got the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT.
Now I need lenses.
I'm wanting to get a wide-angle, a telephoto, and a macro to go with it.
Since this is my first SLR, i don't know what to look for.
Can anyone make suggestions for what lenses i should look for?
And keep in mind, I'm not loaded, nor do i do this for a living.
So I have to make quality and pocketbook meet in the middle if that's possible.

| The tamron 17-35 and 28-75mm lenses are a good way to start. |

First figure out what you are looking to shoot.
Then figure out what kind of lenses will get you there.
Figure out how much you are willing to spend on a lense.
Then build a list of lenses, from as many manufacturers as you can find, that meet the above criteria.
Finally research the heck out of those lenses and pick the one with the best overall scores/resulting images.
Also, make sure you read about the lenses on sites that go heavy into the Technical. The sites that don't touch technical terms aren't likely to give the best reviews. In fact, they might be not much better then a paid advertising arm of lense manufacturers...
Watch out for things like "Shows some Chromatic Aberration" as that can bite you in the butt when you may least expect it. |
