| Hey guys... I took a picture that I really like, except the background is a bit distracting from the main subject. I wish I had used a shallower DoF, but I can̢۪t go back and reshoot now. Can anyone think of a way, in basic editing, to de-emphasize the background? In advanced, I could isolate the subject and Gaussian blur the rest... but what about basic? Currently, I̢۪m trying to contrast it out... but that is not working well... Any thoughts? |

If I can fix it, I will use it in a challenge. :) I wish I could just go reshoot it... but, those are the breaks. |

I don't see a way of doing that and not violating the rules of basic editing.

| Depending on the exposure and contrast between the background and the main subject, you may be able to use levels or curves to "de-emphasize" the background. Bit of a stretch, probably, but just maybe. Just don't select part of the image during basic editing to try the adjustment. |
