I am interested in finding a local juried exibition here in Los Angelas, or the Southland, and am wondering how do I find exibitions, and any advice on entering one.

Here's a good place to start in LA: LA art association
I got started by finding local/community art groups and checking their information. Often they list upcoming exhibits, calls for entry, etc. They are often all media - a different experience from all photography.
There is also
art deadlines list
and Photography contests
But for local I would look at city art guilds, galleries, etc.
Good luck! Its a lot of fun...
Forgot to add...
As for entering them, sometimes it helps to research the judge, get a feel for their preferred 'type' or 'style'
