If you where, or if you are shooting Nikoon with the 18-70mm kit lens, and you would have the chance to change it for the Sigma 15-30mm would you?
In terms of luminosity they are both much the same, but what about qualaty and sharpness? Is the 3mm wider a big difference? Does anybody have any experience with the sigma one? Or I should keep the 17-70mm and buy a simga 10-20mm instead to complement it?
This is because I've got 2 D70 with 18-70mm lenses to shoot wedings but sometimes for indoor photos I feel I could use a bit wider lens. And I'm not ver satisfect with the 18-70mm overhall sharpness. I think that from all my lenses this is the less shap one, even against my Nikon 70-300mm D ED.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd save the 18-70mm for walkaround lens and get a 'real wide angle' lens. That's just me, though. :) |

No I wouldn't swap it.
EDIT: You have two 18-70's? Yeah, I'd swap one of them.

My friend just bought a 10-20 to go with his 18-70 and he keeps boasting about how much he's happy with it. Really annoying actually.
I don't think you would need the 15-30. Plus 30 just seems too wide to me. |

My inicial thought was to buy the 10-20mm. But I also loved to have a fisheye, witch costs about the same. So I don't know if would do better in buying the 10-20mm or the 16mm fisheye (wich fot what I've recently readed equals about 11-12mm rectilinear) and defish it when needed.

10.5mm -- only one I'd get.

I scratched the rear element of my 18-70 that came in the D70 kit, so I would consider buying your spare. |

Why do you have the 18-70 listed in your profile and not the 10.5 then? lol
:)

Because he's talking about wide angle lenses and fisheyes. The 10.5 is the only super wide / fish eye that I would get (ie. not the 10-20, not the 15-30, or any other one).
The 18-70 and the 10.5 are obviously in two completely seperate classes...that's why I have the 18-70 listed in my profile...it's a great lens, but I see no need to have two.

I would. But I also have a 24-120. If you don't have another lens in te 35mm + range keep what you got. |

The 18 on the 18-70 is generally wide enough for me and I like the range it provides. It's a great walk about lens. I'm pretty sure I'd be unhappy only getting to 30. I've got an extreme wideangle/fisheye on my wishlist for someday, but I definately wouldn't trade my 18-70 for a 15-30 (unless the 15-30 is insanely fast or something). |
