I decided I would try shooting RAW for the first time. My question is how do you upload the RAW files from your camera? I have Photoshop CS2 and Bridge. Thanks! |

you just open them up through the bridge and cs2 has a built in converter...unless you have an illegal copy

upload...
do you mean copy from your camera to your harddrive? upload the pictures to the web? See them in Adobe Bridge?
What exactly are you trying to do? |

do you have a crad reader? If so that's the fastest way. Once you put the card in the cardreader it will show up as another harrdrive. Just copy the files from that drive to wherever you'd like them to permanently be and you are set. Adobe Bridge can browse and thumbnail RAW files so if you just goto the directory you copied the pics to you should see them. |

is there a way without a card reader? |

I use Picasa2 to download and organize all my photos, recognizes all RAW files. You can open pics straight from Picasa to any other editing program, but it has its own editing tools too.

I don't have a 20D but I believe if you hook up the USB cable to the camera and computer it will show up as a drive as well - in which case you could follow my previous suggestion from there. :) |

Yeah thats what i thought too, but my camera doesnt come up as a drive. in the past before i got my 20D (i've only had it for a few weeks) I would just use iPhoto to import the photos and then just drag the files to the desired folder on my hardrive. Hmm.... |

well (again I don't have a 20D so I guessing) my Nikon D70 has 2 modes for it's usb connection that I set through the menu system. One will make it show up as a camera, the other a USB drive. Does your camera have a setting like that?
This may be an impracticle suggestion for you not knowing your situation but if you are able to get a card reader it will make life much easier and copy the files much faster (especially useful for LARGE RAW files). You can pick up card readers all over the place now for <$20 (I've seen 'em at grocery stores even). |

picasa for me too
one of the few photo upload/organise programs that doesn't screw up your exif info - and at a price i can afford (free) i can't find a thing to complain about. |

I like Picasa well enough but ultimately stopped using it becaseu many of my pictures are PNG and it would not read those when I had used it. |

The card reader sounds like the best option. I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning! Thanks a lot for the replies. |

Good Advice from Megatherian. Another benefit of the reader is it will save battery life. And thats usually a good thing. :) |
