This also reminds me of the Dr. Seuss story Green Eggs & Ham. Just wondering if it would leave you feeling a bit green if you ate them...

Pretty cool expirement. I just wonder how long the pigs will live.. hope they dont start doing that stuff to people too

I have seen this done with onions and the same jelly fish gene - a remarkably simple process (or at least it looked easy) for plant life.

Just imagine coming home drunk from the pub at the dead of night and seeing a field full of glowing green porkers, now thats got to be scary.

Like I said, they weren't livestock but they've successfully used the jellyfish gene to make control of mosquito populations more efficient (for tackling malaria). Although of course you're right, much of the 'breakthrough' is what it means for research.

Well the fisrt I heard of glowing animals was years ago with ANDI the Monkey there's actually a fairly good illustraition showing how the process works. |

Here's another link to the story that I think tells a little more about why and has another picture...apparently they glow after a blue light is put on them. Just to weird.
