What would you do if...

you manage a website hosting homepages.

a member emailed you claiming his homepage account was hacked and the password changed so he cant login/edit anything anymore, and he wish to have his password reset.

when trying to reset the password for the member account, you realize the email address in the particulars had been changed to another, so you contacted the member about the earlier conversation, and got the reply saying that his email was hacked and so he updated his info to point to a new email account.

what would you do?

Temporarily lock the account down until you can be certain who is who.

How did he update his email if he can't log into his account?

it's 2 different people. one holds the account, the other holds the access to the original email account registered with the homepage account.

Change your policy to single-point-of-contact - ONE account holder who you support.
