A friend has uninstalled Norton in favor of McAfee. He is running Windows XP. He is not computer-literate. He says there's a folder called "Norton Recycler" with hundreds and hundreds of images in it, and the uninstall did not remove it, and he cannot find it to remove it himself.
I don't know either Norton or XP; any suggestions here?

I think norton changes your normal desktop recycle bin to norton recycler so it should cause no problem it should just work same as recycle bin:) If he really wants to get rid of it i will find out how to. I have a copy i and will install and uninstall then tell you how to remove it all (if you want me to do this just give me a pm

was it just the norton antivirus? or was it something like norton system works where you get the antivirus, firewal, system tools and junk like that.
if it is the Norton system works its a big pain in the but to get rid of if you dont un-install it in the correct sequence.
but yes the norton programs usually just rename your recycle bin to the norton protected recycle bin.
have him look on the c drive for a folder called recycler or nprotect
if they did not purge all files out of the recycle bin before installation this will cause some problems as well, and the dialog box to purge the files is a little confusing if you are not familiar with it
it took me a long time to remove all instances and files related to Norton System works.
the symantec.com web site has some instruction for un-installing manualy and also some programs to uninstall their programs.
