I got a quick question. I have an external flash for my canon 10d and the batteries don't seem to stay charged in it very long and when they start to die it takes forever for it to ready to flash again. Whats the best way to solve this problem? Is it simply changing the batteries every so often or is it possible to have th flash run off of the Vertical Battery Grip that can be purchased for the camera? Just wondering because I am doing another wedding in the future.

Thanks.

you using recghargable batteries?
the higher the mA rating the better.

rechargable batteries lose about 1% of capacity a day sitting around as well.

Certain batteries will last a lot longer than others. I use the Energizer e2 lithium ones in most of my camera gear. They cost more, but they last like 10 times as long as standard AAs. Flashes by definition use a lot of power, so they deplete batteries quickly. Does your flash have a sleep mode? That seems to help a lot on mine.

I'm not sure about the sleep mode. I will have to check.

Thanks...

get a $20 set of energizer rechargables - you'll never get enough juice out of disposable AA's. i get a ton of fires, and quick recharge using these batteries - i think they are 2300mA rated.

I got some that are 2500MAh and I agree they are the best thing. Disposables are OK for backup.

I got a set of 4x AA 2500MAh batteries with charger that is both for 110/240V and 12V for $29.99 at BH
I use the batteries for my 580EX and I recharge about once a month, I can shoot close to 3fps with the flash, it manages to charge it self fast enough with the 2500MAh :)

If you use HiSpeed Sync you will eat up the batteries faster also.
