This was my 4th submission and it almost scored a 6 - my goal for each shot at this stage of my development. I took this photo hastily while traveling. I know the sky is a little blown out and the clouds lack definition. What editing would you guys have done to improve this photo. If you would like to show me what could be achieved with good editing, I can e-mail you the full-res photo. Thanks. Jeff

A very quick attempt at it - used shadow/highlight in photoshop, took shadows down to 0%, highlights up to 41%. Thats all. . You could also try a gradient mask to only apply the shadow/highlight filter to the sky (maybe the sky reflection looks a bit too fake now?). To improve the image further, I'd clone out the dust spots.

edit: as far as I know (read: disclaimer!) shadow/highlight is legal in basic editing.

Jeff (photoneer) sent me the original to play with. The following is what I came up with. I didn't spend as much time in my selection fine-tuning as I would on my own work, so there's some artifcating on the the distant hills in the middle right, but that could be fixed if one wanted to take the time. Very little of what I did is basic editing legal, of course, but the whole is faithful to the scene, I believe.
