I propose we quit arguing about microstock sites.

Everyone opposed to them have been heard and have valid points, and everyone for them have been heard and have valid points.

If you have a camera and talent capable of shooting for the macro stock sites, you should at least check them out if you currently only shoot micro stock. That's good sound business advice as it's always a good idea to be aware and informed of all your options.
If you shoot microstock because your camera can't make the images the macro stock sites require or they won't accept you based on talent, keep shooting micro because it's better then nothing.

If you are having fun and making the amount of money you would like doing what you want, that's great! Keep doing what you are doing. If you want to make more money it might be worth checking out macro if you shoot micro or micro if you shoot macro.

Thank you.

Well, again, in my case it comes down to not having the equipment (and possibly talent) to have images which qualify for anything except microstock.

Do you have a practical suggestion ... like send me your camera for free? My "bigger" (3MP) camera was just stolen, so I'm back to 2MP again until I can get something new. Alamy just isn't an option right now (I know -- I tried).

Everybody wants a "free market" until it threatens their little niche ...

My argument is more for the people that have the equipment and the talent. I totally understand your points and if that was my only option to make some cash, then so be it.

Fair enough -- but the criticism most often takes the form of asserting that the microstock sites shouldn't exist at all, rather than placing the burden of exercising an ethical/moral/artistic decision about whether to participate on the individual artist.

Acknowledging the rightful and useful role of microstock sites, while recommending that artists with significant commercial potential exercise great discretion about participating personally would seem reasonable to me, but that's not how I usually hear the discussion go : (

The images I'm selling I've had for over 10 years. I didn't market them because I didn't have the quantity. SO I waited. If I would of sold them for pennies while I built up my stock library, they would be worthless right now.

I'm surprised no one is even mentioning the free stock sites like:
stock.xchng

There are a lot more "threats" out there than just microstock.
