Just wondering if anybody knows a good reputable camera store in Hong Kong. A mate of mine is heading over there this Saturday, and hes going to buy a Nikon D2x. He offered to pick up a Nikon D200 for me if he can get a good deal.

Thanks. How would I get hold of him? Has he got a web site?

I bought a 70-200mm USM IS L in HK 6 months ago.

I do not recall the actual shop (and do not have the receipt to hand sorry) but after a lot of research I found that the shops in Stanley Street (easy to find on HK Island) were the best. They were not the big chain store shops, but small camera stores, maybe 6 of them.

Price varied a lot between them so I just cruised all 6. Pay cash for extra discount.

I also explored up by the Ladies Market area (forget the name) and the prices up there were significantly higher.

Prices compared to Australia were a dream. I also compared them to ordering through B&H and found that some things were far cheaper in HK, but in some cases there was no price advantage at all.

Make sure you get an international warrenty. Was not an issue with the Canon stuff but I don;t know about Nikon.

Hope that helps.
