If I hadn't found DPC, I wouldn't have had an excuse to spend my kids' college fund on camera equipment, all to try and win an elusive "virtual" ribbon. :)

Nothing is all good or all bad, but here are my appreciations of DPChallenge:

. This site taught me a hell of a lot about photography. Without it, I wouldn't be very good!

. This site motivated me to become a better photographer. I am competitive, and this was the perfect way to grow.

. I got a lot of professional work from people who Googled certain images and came across mine. DPChallenge has great Google rankings.

. Many of the people here are wonderful. There's a great sense of community.

. As a result of becoming a better photographer, I get press passes to glamorous events, got to photograph my all-time hero and will be travelling around the world indefinitely to further my photographic career. This wouldn't have happened without DPChallenge.

. If anybody pinches your photos(!) or you need a helping hand in any way, the community will rally around very quickly.

. It is a well-designed site with good aesthetics. Easy to use and clear for the most part.

. There's a lot of inspiring talent on DPC.

. What an amazing age we live in, as soon as we've taken some photos we can get opinions and critiques from all over the world. Wow. And encouragement... that's really handy.

. DPC outings are fun! Through the DPC forums, another DPCer offered me a room for a joint holiday in Spain. It was great to be on holiday with someone also obsessed with taking photos (except when they had no batteries!). London get-togethers are fun.

I'm sure there are loads more, but I'll leave it at that.

Challenge photos are in for this week. Drinking a cup of coffee reading a few threads, checking out a few things I haven't looked at in awhile, thinking about buying a decent macro lens...

...life is good, and DPChallenge makes it even better. ;^)

Think maybe now I'll go catch up on a few comments. C-Ya!

I stay for Rober_Music's wisdom, Ken ROFLMO's humor and to kick Rikki's bum every chance I get.

Okay - I stay for a zillion other reasons too. I LOVE the challenges because they keep my camera out of dry storage and clickin' away, they help me challenge myself and stretch outside my comfort zone and those virtual ribbons might be worth something one day!!

But most of all... its the community. With shitty people around, I'd rather go read a book. DPCers for the most part are very very likable people with the same goals and interests as me.... photography, photography, photography!! :D

*Gets all warm and fuzzy... wipes a tear*

I love to hang out here. I am 95% here for the challenges and 5% for the forums. I am surprised that I like the forums so much these days, I have never been a big fan of "forums", didn´t think I would but I have made a couple of cyber-friends here, people who I have never met who live in countries I have never been to that I probably wouldn´t think twice about visiting and inviting over to show them my country.

I love the weekly challenges, if it wasn´t for DPC I would still be shooting just landscapes and people, I would never even have tried to take a sports photograph, an apple dropping in a fishtank or a guy in the middle of a dunk, gone out in the middle of the night with a flashlight taking a waterfall photo and this list goes on and on. Basically it´s widening my horizons and making me try out things I would never have done otherwise and this is a big reason why I come here, I am not just entering a challenge, I am challenging myself! :)

Also I learn a lot by viewing other peoples work and commenting on them, getting ideas, thinking how I would have made that shot and more often than not, banging my head against a wall saying "now why didn´t I think of that!!!" :)

Thanx for the good times, may there be many more :P

I love the pool of wisdom on all sorts of topics, and the willingness to share it.

No matter how odd or difficult a question might be, there is bound to be someone willing and able to answer it - usually within a few minutes.

I appreciate all the photography related topics, but I also like the silly banter and totally "useless" stuff because that is what makes this place feel so cozy.

Last night I had a dream that I was using super-cool - and really strange and different - photography techniques I had learned on DPC to take amazing photos. And there were a whole bunch of us all together, taking photos and having a fantastic time.

Pretty cool hearing this from a guy with 18 ribbons here on DPC. 13 of those ribbons have been gained since he posted this 9 months ago.

My "Happy thoughts about DPChallenge" today are twofold; 1) the weekly challenges still give me something to look forward to even after 2 years here, and 2) after 2 years participating here at DPC I have confidence to approach just about any subject and feel like I can capture a respectable photo.

that's a cute one :) and interesting.
i use different identities for all my online "lives".
you cant trace-link me to any other online identities because they are all so different.
my DPC personality is just another part of me that is unique.
some of you may have talked to me on other sites/communities and we might never know it :p

Something positive about dpchallenge:

In almost every challenge I find several photographs that are truly beautiful and inspiring. I think that's a fantastic achievement. Now if only the votography were up to the photography!

DPC is like a fresh bag of Cheese Puffs straight from the manufacturer.

MMMMMMM, can you smell the aroma of freshly baked puffs and the chedder delight sprinkled on it.

This, to me, is DPC.
