I just watched this film (spotted on Metafilter), It's just over an hour long, if you have the time to watch it I thoroughly recommend it.

It's about an American who walks the length of Japan from the bottom to the top tip, VERY well shot and edited. Very inspiring.

Looks very interesting. I've only watched the first ten minutes; I hope to see the rest some later date.
He's not the first person to do such a walk, of course. One Englishman wrote a book 20 odd years ago called "Road to Sata" (the late Alan Booth). It would be a great thing to do.

Yeah, I saw the reference to the book on Metafilter and looked it up on Amazon. Looks like an interesting read.
