Good call dahkota. Nice to keep it simple. I'm not voting down selective desat or white or black BG. Perhaps my 9-10 votes will be to others, but I got no problem voting UP an excellent shot.

I love black and white. I like selective desat if used for a reason such as creating impact. Both of these will score for me. I didn't use either - didn't have the 'right' image for that.

Funny though, I just got accepted into a juried art show. The image they accepted was selective desat to create impact in the image and it would have worked for burst of color. Talk about timing... :)

Selective "desat"? Are you saying you are taking color away from the background, as in making something stand out by having it color and background b/w? Hmmm. I wonder how many will do that.

I bet at least 1/3rd if not 1/2 will be selective desat. Just a guess though...

I reopened this thread because I thought there was an actual reply? What do you mean "Oh good Lord"? LOL... Is it because you don't like my post, or is it you are wondering the same as I?

Oh. I wouldn't like that very much. Well, I guess it is just what I am imagining those to be. May be something different, but it reminds me of a photo I did of my son when he was a baby. I put it in a baby contest photo site for a theme called "partial color". He was in a very colorful walker and holding a stuffed Tiger from Disney in his mouth. I desaturated everything but the walker, and the Tiger. It won, but then again the contest was called "partial color" and not "burst of color". I guess it can be taken the same way though.

Seems this is going to be quite a crazy challenge. LOL...

Oh. I wouldn't like that very much.

But just a few hours ago you said this;

Originally posted by Rose8699:

Selective sat and desat, along with a plethora of others, are allowed. Many have used them. Many have won using them. I see no difference between challenges. Just because this one has to do WITH color, I don't see why using selective saturation in this particular challenge has to be a downfall. I say USE it to your hearts content if you need to. It's allowed, and so are many other things.

Have you changed your mind?

Don't forget she also said this:

It seems that her mind is constantly changing and forgetting.

Ummmm, do you think I don't know what I say?

I don't really care what other people do in this challenge. USE any tools you can and you want. I just personally don't really care for desaturating color. It reminds me of "the old school", or at least it is for me, when it comes to photo manipulation. I would personally not like doing it, and didn't, but if others want to then certainly that is their perogative.

GEEESH, vultures! LOL....

By the way, I'm taking names. Anyone on this thread who is crabbing about what is said here on this challenge, if another challenge comes up where YOU are excited enough to post your thoughts, expressions or ideas, I will be on you like white on rice! :)

Rose

EDITED TO ADD: For the understanding impaired - I am talking about desaturating an entire photo but the one color element. Example - a flower in a field of flowers, and all other flowers are desaturated but one. I'm not talking about selective desat. 80% desat to a photo to me is old school stuff, and not a personal choice I would make for this challenge. If others want to go that route, it is certainly up to them though. Hey, if I like it enough, I will still score it high!

Spaz, you spaz out on nearly every thread. That is what "I" have seen in your posts. I think you just like to aggravate where no existing aggravation was. You know, you can always ignore me, but I am sure this is how you get your jollies, so carry on dear.

Don't worry. You won't miss much. Spaz comes unarmed under any circumstance if he comes up against me. :)

Sweetheart, isn't this what YOU said a little while ago? Maybe you should have remained with NO WORDS. Now whose mind is changing and forgetting? Don't answer that. It's rhetorical.

If there was any thread of consistency in your posts, I wouldn't call you on it, but there simply isn't any. What I see in your posts is like some stream-of-conciousness babble that has no prayer of rationality whatsoever.

Mostly I reply just to see what nonsense you'll come up with next.

Rose, why do you take these forums so seriously? - I mean, you always seem to want to have the last word in these bickering matches.

Why not try the other approach. Just leave it. It doesn't mean you've lost or anything like that. It just means you can spend time on something more interesting. And the thread will be forgotten about by this time tomorrow.

You should see some of the politics forums I'm in, if you want to see some serious arguing.... Oh, sorry, I mean 'debating'!
