I just installed my new Dell 2005 FPW monitor. Everything and every photo is stretched to fit into the new widescreen format.
When I went to my video card (RAGE 128 PRO) display settings, the reccomended setting of 1680x1050 was not available, the max being 1280x1024. I've tried updating the driver for the video card, but it won't do it. It says it's not compatible with my hardware.
Help!!!

You might just need to shell out $44 for a new video card to go with your new $440 monitor...
;)
BTW...get one with a DVI output. Heck get a dual head and keep your old monitor too! |

No, I have a mac with a ATI Radeon 9200, but it is showing the native monitor settings as 1680x1050 @ 60Hertz. Did you check your video card manafacturer's web site for possibly the latest driver? I can't imagine not being able to use your card. |

The rage series are pretty old cards. Get a newer ATI Radeon or Nvidia Geforce with DVI and VGA and, as theSaj said, use your old monitor too if you want.
I personally like Nvidia's Geforce cards - I have the 6600GT with dual DVI, and it's very good as far as I'm concerned. I'd get something like this 5200 if you don't plan to do any gaming (and it'll be faster than your Rage anyways):

Well, I went out and picked up a ATI Radeon 9600 SE this morning and everything now works great.
Thanks to all for the help.
