It is wireless. You can use it wirelessly with D70 too.

I know that SB-600 and SB-800 are both wireless. I have no idea about the rest.

Wireless as in the flash talks to the D70, or wireless slave? I.E. if you have the SB-600 off camera, but don't have the pop-up flash on, then will the SB-600 still go off?

i believe that you must have the pop up 'up' for this to work
if i've read it correctly with the iTTL system it comunicates to the other flashes from the flash on camera (or the SU-800 & SB-800 infrared systems)

I'm a relatively new member - first post. I have asked many if it is better to have the same manufacturer's flash on the hot shoe or if a different one is ok - i.e. Sigma vs Minolta on a Minolta; Sigma vs Nikon on a Nikon, etc.

I have received different opinions. What do you guys think?

Would depend on what else is available for the same system. I have SB-800 because I don't know of a better one that works with the Nikon system.

How to Use Nikon Strobes Wirelessly, for Free! @ KenRockwell.com

I remember hearing that at least some of Sigma's flashes work wirelessly as well. SB600 and SB800 do that for certain.

This very well might be the best link I have ever seen. Thank you SO much for this info.

Now to find that little stand that came with my SB-600. ;)
