I met up with Rikki and his girlfriend in Nikko today and took them to the Toshugu Shrine complex. Here are some shots.

The disaster is that I copied one of my SD cards twice onto my portable hard drive, instead of both of them once. This means I deleted 45 pictures without having saved them. The ones of the ice at the fountain and all the Taiyu-in photos, plus the interesting back-of-the-head shot of Rikki.

And we found the ironic thing is that the only other DPC member we have both met up with is Philip Dyer...

Damn! That's too bad that you accidentally deleted the images . It was a fun trip David and thanks to you for being our tour guide! It was definitely great meeting up with you today and we learned so many things. I will definitely make plans to come back when the fall colors are out so we can make the trek again to Nikko.

I'll be looking forward to our next meeting and maybe Alionic and Hanae can meet up with us as well. The food was excellent by the way :) We both fell asleep on the two hour train ride back to Tokyo.

I'll be posting some images when I get back :)

Oh by the way, it was so dang cold I there was a point when I couldn't feel my toes and point when I couldn't feel my toes and I was wearing finger socks and another pair of socks over them. I was constantly monitoring my camera making sure that the condensation wasn't getting too bad.

I think in all, I took about a couple hundred shots in all, I took about a couple hundred shots plus some that I took with my P&S.

A fun day indeed!

How cold was it? Normally when it's really cold (like zero-ish), there really isn't any condensation going on...that's why I'm just curious. Searched for Nikko on weather.com but it won't come up. I understand it's a bit North of Tokyo?

Glad you have fun .... sucks to destroy your images.

There were a few flurries of snow, the sun made an occasional appearance, but it's cold compared to other places, and remember, Rikki is from San Francisco.

It was pretty cold and I had to wear gloves most of the time. It was still pretty fun though ;)
