oops! I am a newbie here and did go through the challenge pics and clearly missed this one! Personally, I like its intensity, the framentation of the patterns so that there are layers of patterns in there as well so for me it is a strong composition with real neon intensity. My only observation is with the division of the image and the black background - not sure it feels right for me but the magic of thirds is clearly there. Sigh! Basically - I like it!

Chuckle - could you tell that I am a consultant in real life? All of those words?
Seriously - loved the picture and the way it was pulled together. Now I have to get going with my camera and get the advice I need!

Honestly...
1. You have a spelling error in the title - to me, makes me think you don't care enough about your entry to even spell the title you gave it correctly.
2. The bleed on the color is a bit much and in some areas just too much. Lower contrast perhaps.
3. Although there is a pattern visible, it is chaotic and somewhat distracting and looks 'forced' somehow as opposed to naturally being there. Maybe the confusion... |

Yikes! If you consider that being ripped apart it's probably a good thing you didn't get many comments. ;^)
edit to remove polkop's remarks...I think we call that a "do-over", or a "mulligan" if you're a golfer. ;^)

For what it's worth; People tend to punish those who make a mistake in spelling..spining instead of spinning could have put people off the photo. I scored this rather low because I thought a pattern was not what was really displayed but a spinning light and I wasn't sure what to think of the focus or lack thereof. I did like the colors though. Remember also that people only give themselves a few seconds to score each image and any little flaw will make people go for the lower numbers....looking at the voting breakdown, you will see it's a very typical curve and 5+ is an average score, not bad..
edit for typo ;)

I'm also from Iceland and I DO rely on a dictionary just to make sure..misspelling is an eyesore and if you put a lot of time into taking a photograph, checking a simple spelling doesn't take that much time. |

I admit...my eight-year-old daughter and I caught the spelling mistake. We were wondering if it was a special kind of light CALLED a "spining" light? LOL I scored it on the low side, too...also because it didn't seem to have sharp focus, and I prefer more natural images over "abstract"-type photos. Just personal preference, polkop...and spelling mistakes bug me a bit. I see you spelled it right in your comments. ;)

As an English guy and lover of my mother tongue I prefer to understand the semantic of the phrase rather than worry too much about syntax. Given that English has been adopted by other countries and creeds, spelling is not always universally agreed -see UK and US English for example. It is what was conveyed that is important and not the way it was said.
On the other hand, my Icelandic is crap!

I score it a 5..which if you check my voting record of over 12,000 votes..you will see that is slightly above average for me :-)
Electronic created photos (meaning pictures of electrical signs, computer screens or the appearance of such whether true or not) always get hammered a bit. What I liked about it was the color and the negative space. Your composition shows signs of attention to photographic understanding which is a major point here.
DP Challenge is about learning for a lot of people who are new to actually thinking about a photo. I like to see people obviously work on an idea..meaning lighting and composition count a lot to me...it shows developement.
Take that same photo, put somebody behind the circles of light looking through them and BOOM!!!! You probably jump up to a 7 or better with me for adding a human element and depth.
Anyway, you definitely show that you have an eye to develop further :-)
