On safari, finding animals is easy. Living in downtown vancouver finding wildlife was actually easy to approach also. Now I live in the country and technically live amongst wildlife, the odd bear and coyote live in my hood so to speak. Beaver by the river, eagles high over head...but man am I having a hard time getting close enough long enough to them to get a shot...anyone got any ideas??

well you've got a nice telephoto lens - so you shouldn't have to get too close. Just sit tight - real still and try covering your scent with the stuff hunters wear. You have to be very still and quite though, and be prepared to sit for hours.

Being that you are in Canada, you should have a nice snow cover by now. Just walk out into the wilderness and find animal tracks or signs that they have been there (usually that means urine or feces). You could also bait an area by putting out the type food that will bring in the beast you seek. Deer=corn; Bear=stale cakes, pies, dog food; Coyotes - don't bother baiting just get a coyote call - it makes a sound like a rabbit screaming (coyotes can't resist a wounded rabbit)
