I got my Macro lens this week! Woohoo! This was the first photo I took with it. More to come for sure.

Just wanted to add that the bug wasn't harmed during the photo taking process and was returned to his home underneath a cement block:)

looks like the apature was a f4.0... try setting that apature all the way to the largest fstop # you can get to... if I understand things correctly, the higher the fstop # is, the more depth of field of focus you will have... you just might need a tripod to compensate for the slow shutter speed the fstop might require... then that bug will really show some details in all it's buggy glory! good luck!

edited note: wow that thing is in the palm of your hand isn't it? hehe that's small!!!!!!!!!!

You are correct, a smaller aperture would have made this sharper. I shot this handheld as I had just pulled it out of the box.

The lens is a Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX Macro Autofocus Lens. It has minimal focus distance of 7.4 inches, 1:1 Magnification. It also comes with a lens hood. I got it at B&H for $239 plus shipping.
