Agreed. The XT has the ability to make excellent quality images under the right conditions, and with the right settings, but just shooting on Auto mode with the kit lens, and printing it right from the JPG file will never give her very good results.
All cameras need tweaking of the settings and post-processing, in fact it seems to me like my 350D needs quite a bit more than any of my point and shoot cameras did.

This is on purpose! The manufacturers of dSLR cameras assume that the photogs wanna finish their photo's themselves... |
