You need to download updates for photoshop so that it understands the data from your specific camera. Once you do that, when you open it in photoshop a raw processing window will pop up and you go from there.

Wait, just saw that you have elements. Not sure if that will support RAW. If not, Rawshooter essentials is probably the best option, since it's free, though I haven't used it myself.

What version of elements do you have?

Older versions didn't support RAW files. I have v4 now and it reads Raw files.

yep I was going to ask the same On What version of elements do you have? if you are using Elements 3.0 try downloading Adobe's DNG it will convert your raw files to .dng files then see if you can open them up. I works for me on my raw files from my rebel xt then photoshop cs can open them. Give it a shot see if it works. Even if you dont have elements 3.0 see if it works

version 2 definitely won't do it unfortunately.

Didn't your 10D come with any software that supports raw files? (I have a Nikon so I don't know).

If not then I'd go ahead and check out Rawshooter essentials or upgrade PSE.

Nope PS7 won't either. Go Google Rawshooter Essentials (it's Free). Convert to TIFF then do your editting in PSE or PS7.

just download Adobe DNG converter, it takes all kinds of RAW files and converts them to .DNG format that photoshop can read, I think elements to, and it leaves the orginal untouched.

ps7 will if you download the codec for it.

You might check out Corel Paint Shop Pro X as well. I believe $99 for full version. It processes RAW and is a poor man's Photoshop. I own v7 and currently have a 30 day demo of PSP X.

I've just started using Raw Shooter (free edition). I can't quite make my mind up between continuing using Capture One LE or going with this. Sadly I have had a spate of hardware failures (only lost a couple of images) but each time I started up Capture One it revokes my paid up license and switches me to a 15 day trial license. Really Really annoying thus thinking of looking seriously at Raw Shooter.

I had the same issue when I first did it, you should have gotten a package free with the camera.
