Did you get some good ones of "The Bus"?

Well, yes and no.

I got plenty of good shots of him this afternoon... tons and tons as a matter of fact. BUT I have just learned that by posting photos on the web, I have jeopardized my credentials for the games.

The editor of the newspaper was contacted by the Steelers, who were not happy with the fact that I had posted shots on a web site where I promote my photography work. I had a gallery of sports photos, which included numerous Steelers shots, and I didn't realize that this violates NFL policy.

I've seen numerous other people doing similar things in the past, and honestly hadn't given it a second thought... and to my discredit, I did not read the credential agreement well enough to understand that this was not permitted.

I honestly don't know for sure whether my posting of images here at DPC was a problem, as this site isn't meant to "promote" my photography, per se.

However, in order to make myself as compliant as possible, I have regretably removed my sports images here. I am curious to see whether this move was really necessary, considering the existence of sites like sportsshooter.com, which really revolve around learning the art of sports photography.

But anyway, I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing in hopes that I won't further screw this gig up for myself...

Alan, check out sportshooter.com -- they have a big thread where something like this happened recently with posting images there...

In the end, the 'authorities' concluded that posting them at sportshooter (which I would assume would be the same as here) is considered 'editorial' and thus ok.

Hmph... I find that interesting, particularly since guys seem to solicit freelance work in their profiles.

Anyway... I'll feel better playing it safe.

Alan what about your challenge entries, are you allowed to keep those online?
I think this sucks, I really enjoyed looking at your pics on game-day, :(
It's not like you were offering them as prints..

Wasn/t there a flap about a photog taking NFL shots that the NFL didn't approve of for some reason..foggy memory. Houston or Dallas if i recall, last season.
I am not getting the info via google, bad google skills i guess.
