Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM

I can't even get a clear shot of a bird WITH my tripod. Everything else is coming out a lot clearer, but for some reason my bird shots just aren't workin out!

Post EXIF data (or the original image) to give us a better idea what is going on.

Can you select a focus point on your camera? If not try this:

Try placing the birds in the center, pushing the shutter button halfway down to lock in focus then compose the shot of where you want the bird then click.

Have you tried changing the program setting on the camera. It looks like its been taken in portrait mode whereas a faster mode might give better results in freezing the movement of the bird

It probibly wont send a large file, but thats ok, The E-500 is kinda soft on some stuff, I have found the same. What photo editor are you using?
