What's up everyone. I am a brand new Mac owner/user and tried to install the Nikon Picture Project. It seems to install alright, but once I try to use the transfer feature it fails to work. A bubble pops up saying "application cannot open" etc etc. This sucks. So questions:
1. Does every other nikon user use picture project?
2. Anyone experience this problem?
3. Do you use iPhoto to transfer? Is iPhoto good enough so just shut up me?
4. Seems like iPhoto only captures some of the details about the shot, but not ISO and others.
Thanks for help and input.... |

Using your disk utilities I would repair permissions, and if that doesn't work reinstall the software.
Personally, I've never installed any software for any of the digital cameras I've owned including the D70. I would suggest getting a card reader to transfer photos to your mac. Faster, more reliable and no need to power the camera during transfer.
I don't use iPhoto as my DAM, I use Extensis Portfolio (The best DAM on the market IMO). I doubt however that iPhoto is deleting the information, but just no showing it. You didn't mention what photo editor your using, but you should be able to access the EXIF info with it. |

iPhoto transfers the camera original to your hard disk and displays most (but not all) of the EXIF info (it does display ISO).
IMO, iPhoto is "good enough" for picture management, and much more. I don't use any of it's editing tools though. I open photos in PS CS and then save my edits to a separate folder, making iPhoto my "originals" repository. iPhoto also does a great job of making quick web galleries.
Don't know anything about Nikon's software, but IMO, iPhoto should at least get you started. |

iveiw media pro is great, but you also have a simple utility called image capture, you will find it in the aplication folder, i dont use iphoto and i in fact removed it from my mac i use image capture to upload pictures from my card reader and i use PSCS to edit. viewing i use iview media pro, you can get a free trail version from the mac site to try then buy.. if you get version 3 it works with nef files too..
