So many suggestion threads seem to turn into rant threads becasue so and so on the SC said blah blah blah, when the majority of the time the SC member was just stating a personal opinion.

If there were a place where official decisions or thoughts the SC had collectively come up with could post those decisions it would free up a lot of ranting possibly in the other threads because we all would know - if it's in any other place it's just that person's opinion.

(I hope that makes sense)

"official" announcements are posted in the Administrative Announcements forum. anything in there can be considered an agreed-upon decision, or important site information.

other sc posts throughout the forums are meant to help individual users. we don't make pat decisions in random threads. more often than not, we're simply stating our opinions and provide guidance.

Must three bean casserole actually have three beans, could you have two beans and a black eye pea?

Black-eyed peas are in fact considered by some to be beans, and therefore I personally think they fall within the spirit of the recipe. Other Site Council members may disagree though, so this should not be taken as an official ruling.

If you would like an official ruling, please bake a sample casserole and submit it via the Contact Page for taste-testing.

The way I interpret it, the addition of a black eyed pea is in fact adding a human being from the band of the same name. I would say this was illegal since it is cannibalism, and the casserole would probably be DQd.

But unless you tasted it, how would you know if it's good or not?

Your casserole must also comply with section the Terms Of Use:

4.1 Generally, you must use the DPChallenge.com Service in a manner that demonstrates good taste and respect for the rights of DPChallenge.com and third parties.

4.2 You will not use the DPChallenge.com Service to post content or to design, manufacture, market or sell a Product that ... (ix) is generally offensive or in bad taste.

Typical!!.....Another example of the usual inconsistency displayed by members of the site council. How am I supposed to know if my bean casserole will be acceptable when I can't even get a reliable decision before I submit it....I mean....come on.....This is serious....I just can't think straight or do stuff unless you guys give me some sort of direction. I propose a restructure of the site council and a rewriting of the rules...Its got to happen before the next challenge begins.....and I still want my casserole validated in the meantime. I know your just volunteers and this isn't a megalithic profit generating business but I paid my 25 bucks so you owe me a life.

:)

I love the humor here and also the innuendo. There is only one minor difference that I disagree. First the site owes me nothing. I am but a tiny voice however, I spend a lot of time giving to the site. Yet, I do not expect that my stats make me special. I am just another member paying a pittance for a lot of fun. But I would be tempted to throw in a plastic pea pod into the mix and let the S/C contemplate. lol

If I was the kind to use the signature function in the forums then this would be by signature. :)

Is that a love of three bean salad with black-eyed peas, a love of cannabalism, or a love of the contact page?

I think you may have added a major element to that 3 bean casserole. Maybe. I'm not really sure about that, but it appers that the pea was not there to begin with, and therefor must have been added. But I could be wrong. I'll get back to you on that.

(and on topic)
There is a list of decisions the SC has made. It's called 'RULES'. Anything in the forums should be considered either opinion, educated guesses, or just us shooting off at the mouth. Also, for some other 'official rulings'. Feel free to check out the DQ's which are now listed at the end of each challenge results page. And as mentioned, there is also a 'admin announcement' thread'

And dude, after validating about 1000 of your shots, you could probably add the plastic pea and still be legal in basic editing! ;)
