I still shoot weddings on film using a 800si minolta. for 80% of the time I use a 35/105 3.5 //4.5 zoom, ther lens are 100mmATX Tokina 2.8 and 17/35 f3.5 and a 75/300 f3.5/4.5
IMO fast lens are really not needed as with iso 200 film I am shooting at 1/250@ f11.
Most times I use a 4x ND filter.
Fill flash is a neccessity down here as in mid summer I use it full power.
to fill dark shadows as the light is strong and harsh.
prof Fate you must have crap light for strobes and f2.8 lens IN SUMMER????? |

I shoot about 10 or so weddings a year. The camera you have is what i used last year and am now using as a back up. I use one SB800, would like more but you know how it goes. My advise is look at other wedding photo sites to get ideas, but because its your first wedding don't get worry as much about the art as the teck stuff. You really only have one chance to get the shots as they occur. the only time you can sorta relax is during the dinner. Never, Never shoot people while they are eating. Most people don't like them and it make people look like dooky. You might try using rear curtan flash as it will expose for the background while the subject is exposed by the flash. You can acctually set the D70 to shoot flash as a normal setting at 1/15th. Have fun with the bride and groom and never let the bride out of your site. It has been my experience that grooms don't like to have pics taken of them. But the bride is the star anyway. If all else fails, shoot the damm thing in a photjournalist way. That style has been very popular in the northeast where i live. I hope this helps. Oh yeah, don't let them see you sweat.
