Troy,

I'm a big fan of sunset/sunrise photography. Your concept to have the foreground rocks silhouette is a good one. Every good sunset needs a good foreground object(s) to balance the sky. Looks like yours follows the rule of thirds.

I do have a few suggestions for improvement:
1-Level the horizon. That is major no-no for sunrise images. :)
2-Work more on the color. The image seems a little "dull" colorwise and low-contrast. It has a yellow hue that could be improved. Work on it in your photo image editor to bring out more blue in the sky, make the blacks "blacker", and bring out more detail in the ocean.
3-Reduce the haloing along the horizon edge.

Sometimes if a challenge picture does not look right to me I will download it and do nothing more than apply "Autolevels" in Photoshop. If it is improved significantly that tells me the image needs post-processing work. I did that with yours and it does. :)

I apply (but usually do not save) a "autolevels" adjustment to an image AFTER I am done post processing as a way to see if I have not gone to far afield in post-processing images. Sometimes I do. ;) Though there are exceptions to this it normally points out defects in my processing. If "Autolevels" changes the image it usually means I did not do a good job of post-processing and I normally go back and make corrections. I recommmend you do that to.

Ok i did a little editing to these two, what do you think is the best of the two, personally i like the darker sky,i think i put too much red. but the blue sky is also very enticing.

the blue sky vs the darker sky, is that a personal decision, or do most people prefer the blue sky over the dark one ?
