Hi Lesley - very odd this, what cf cards are you using? If its Lexar there was a batch of them that were faulty. Other than that I have no idea. You could try the 'clear all camera settings' and see if that helps.

Best of luck

I would say it would have to be with the sensor or the processor. A faulty shutter wouldn't leave any patterns like that. Try reseting the camera to default settings. Then remove and replace the battery.

I'm not sure that will work, but it shouldn't take but a few minutes to try.

Looks like your mirror is not getting out of the way. Does your camera have a mirror lock-up function? You can lock it up and see if it is out of the way of the sensor all the way.

My initial reaction was the mirror. But that left solid black areas on mine when the mirror failed. Seems that it is a problem with 300D mirror mounts being made with plastic. I took mine in and they machined metal pins for the mounts.

Maybe the shutter is not opening fully. Just a guess.

Cheers

Better figure it out quick.... looks like you are missing some great shots.

I would tend to agree with the mirror idea... in tonyv's case, the mirror was blocking the sensor for the entire exposure. In Goodman's case, the mirror is in the field durring the opening curtain, hence the effect limiting itself to only half the image. I agree Tom... the best way to know is to do a shot with the mirror lock up function.
