This falls into a category that I find myself shooting regularly: "skyscapes". They may have a landscape element IN them (mine usually do) but this element is subordinate to, supporting, the sky. The images are "about" the sky, the clouds, the light. IMO shots like this do not NEED the traditional scale elements and focal points that are so dear to landscape photographers.
Your image, I believe, uses the silhouetted mountains to perfect advantage, and no other "foreground" element is needed, or even desirable. Imagine, for example, a large Saguaro cacatus silhouetted in the lower right, projecting above the mountains and well into the sky. IMO, this would be taking a lovely, natural abstract and turning it into a postcard shot, if you catch my drift?
What I WOULD like to see is that you might clone out the skeletal branches lower right; this would make a huge difference. In fact, I've done so below; I've also goosed the contrast and saturation a bit to see how that works. On that aspect, the jury in my mind is still out :-)
Regardless, it's a sweet image and I like it very much. Not earth-shattering, not award-winning, but quite and contemplative and appealing in all ways :-)
Robt.
