Hey...

Like the title says, I'm looking for a job that has to do with photography. If anyone knows of any openings please let me know. Right now my choices are to either get a job working at a restaraunt and wait 7 months to go to a college that I'm not sure I want to go to, or to try and find a full time job to work at.

It doesn't matter where the job is located, as long as it's in the US;) I'm deff. willing to relocate to anywhere, actually I would like that.

Anyways...I just wanted to see if you guys knew of anything. I would really really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!

I could use a photographer for my buisness... but it's in Iceland ;)

and I photograph the inside of sewage pipes.. you can take a lot of "dirty" pictures there :)

but the pay is good.. about $55/hour

Iceland would be a blast...

I'm telling you, I am willing to re-locate to almost anywhere. I just don't know the restrictions about moving to a different country and getting a job, but if I can do it, then I will.

If you are serious please let me know, you can drop me an email at: calebphoto@yahoo.com

That goes for anyone really...feel free to drop me a line, even if it's just a lil encouragement:P

I can just imagine the scene in Caleb's home today:

"MOM! I got a job offer! $55 an hour! I'm not gonna go to college!"

"And what's this job invove? $55 an hour is decent money..."

"Well, umm, I would be photographing sewer pipes..."

jejejeĆ¢„Ā¢

Why don't you start marketing yourself as a photographer and start doing freelance photography and start building your own business :) My daughter-in-law did that and now, she's doing weddings regularly, senior pictures, family portraits, band photographs, etc. and making enough to get by. It's not that hard to create a simple website, where you could put samples of your work. ..then it's just a matter of getting the word out.

That would be my suggestion.. . or apply at every newspaper or ad agency you can think of. Good luck!

It's so busy here in Hollyweird that my union is accepting permits.

Get your 30 days and pay $4500 inititation fee, and pay your $160 quarter dues, and you can be a Set Lighting Technition. Actually, I think alot of locals from differant crafts are accepting permits.

Try local 600, the camera department union, see if they are accepting.

The DGA is always accepting applications for their union. But, it's an internship, that pays reasonably well, and you need 300 days to qualify.

Just a thought. Now I'm off to drink some of my xmas booze.

Thanks guys. I've been offered to do a few family portraits and band gigs, but lets face it...I live in Kansas, a state of like 2 million people, lol. There's just not that much need for photographers around here. So I think starting my own business might be a little difficult...although I have deffinately though about it quite a few times.

I would really prefer to work for someone, simply because I am inexperienced and don't really know how to run my own business yet.

In your spare time, you might consider perusing the contents of some of the materials posted here...Small Business Guide or other similar venues. You might also consider seeking information from those individuals in DPC that have their own business.

Best of luck to you

I don't have a job to offer you, but if you want to pack up your camera and passport and work on your portfolio in St Thomas I'll put you up on my crappy boat for a week or two. Jobs are also easy to find on island...

I won't be there for another month though, I'm still in CA visiting family...

there's always retail photography stores.

i learned a lot from working those places, and made connections.

you also get to borrow cameras.

nice ones.

I know of a great job, but can't help you, sorry. I just submitted my portfolio/resume package today for a job, and even though I probably won't get it, I don't need any extra competition. ;-) Best of luck to you though.

Another good idea is to work at a pro lab. Digital or film. When I was in L.A., I worked at the top slide film processing lab and made several good contacts there.

The market is severely saturated at this point.

you can blame digital photography for that.

almost everyone who has a digital cam can technically be a 'wedding photographer' or stock now.
