Brent, you can't tell the difference in sharpness between the Canon 24-70 and the Tamron 28-75: I know 'cuz I've used them both. If there is any difference, it's basically not visible to the naked eye on a 1.6 crop camera. Full frame might be a different story...

Tamron SP 24-135 3.5-5.6 - great lens, but too sharp..yeah! The blurred BG is all the lens (or my skills!) NOT a PS effect.

the good...(studio shots, f7 or so)

the not so good (too sharp perhaps as an 8x10)

an 18yr olds forehead...clone and heal here we come!

FWIW my Tamron SP 90mm Macro is quickly becoming my favorite lens too. I've made 4x6 prints off it which look just as good (or bad!) as any of my other glass. I've never tried printing bigger, but I can provide you with a full size .TIFF file or two if you want to try it yourself.

print size matters - it's where the men are seperated from the boys. I never printed anything bigger than 4x6 till this past fall either. I guess i need to have some of my pics taken with a 'cheap' lens printed 8x10 and see if i notice a difference.

I don't know about the sharpness, but this photo has always freaked me out. ;o)

Me TOO! Maybe it's a "Ward" thing? There's something demented about that shot...

I got my job at the paper using a Tamaron lens. I still to this day use it as much as my Nikon lens if not more. It may be that I have more hours on it and I am more familiar with it, but none the less it is my work horse and I am a "Professional" (cough, cough,)
