Hello all,
I am new to digital editing completely. I do have a good bit of darkroom experience and am fairly proficient in printing, but working with digital is like starting all over for me. I just got a d70 last week and have no trouble shooting with it, but am frustrated I don't know where to start with the editing process. I have gimp as well as photoshop 7 right now. I am wondering what the starting point is for editing an image. For now I'd like to work in black and white so I'm going to need to convert the original image to black and white, and from there where do I go? I keep reading alot about layers, unsharp mask, sharpening, and multiplying. I know these programs have huge amounts of creative control, but due to the complexity I doubt most users are using more than just a few basic functions to edit. Please help me out guys, responses would be great as well as any links to tutorials.
Thanks,
Kerry
