3 hours shooting my 'username' challenge entry.

i think it's really good.. we're talking 5.6 territory here :-)

what's the longest you've ever spent on an entry? have you ever put hours into one and scrapped the idea without entering?

for Free Study IX, I spent about 4hrs and another 2hrs for Shallow DOF challenge

I spent an hour and a half maybe two hours trying to do the Shallow DOF challenge. After I picked my one image (and deleted all the others) I started editing. Just when I was ready to submit it, I realized I forgot to save an original. So there went that, and I wasn't about to spend another hour to get the shot. I ended up using an image I took later in the week, with no intention of the challenge until I saw it on the monitor. I am doing good, in my opinion. I am just below 5.5 now.

so far i've seen no direct link to time spent and high scores. in fact, some of my last minute 'quickies' have yielded higher scores than my 1-2 hour efforts.

I had spent only about 5-10 mins for my highest scoring entry :)

the zebra strips took about 3 hrs i think from cutting out the paper stripes to painting my own face. It would have been a lot faster if i had someone to help me.

I don't think I've ever spend less than 2hours on an image. The studio ones take 3+ hours of trial and error. The location shoots usually involve at least 2 hrs travelling, setting up, waiting for light, then swearing at clouds/traffic/rain/kicking the tripod that spoilt it. Then going back the next night to try it again :)

Having said all of that, my most successful image (6.907 for 5th place)

took just a few minutes to shoot but as you'll see in the comments, I was ready and waiting for "the shot" because the day was so dramatic. I had the camera out and on my lap while driving. So I don't know if you call it a 5 minute wonder or a 4 hour location search and shoot.

My record lowest time shot is my Pun challenge. :) It took me about 10 mins to get ready and I only did about 6 shots. Right now it one of my higher scores. :)

My username challenge took me about 4 hours to get ready then I took many shots. I hope it will have been worth it. I know it will be at least to the user I chose. :)

Longest for me was probably the Pattern challenge .. took me around 4 hours to find the props another 4 hours for the first shoot and the final shoot took around another 2 hours ... making a grand total of 10 hours! Yes I am on vacation ...and the girl friend is out of town ...
