I was DQ'd today for having more than two borders on my challenge pic. That is not what I put on my pic. I only put two, one brown one black. I never used more than those two borders. I placed the black ON the brown. This is so totally anal I am considering withdrawing my membership. I am not the first to be DQ'd for only adding 2, yes count em, 2 borders what ever happens in the uploading of images was never stated as being given a border . To the site jokers who are inforcing this rule please examine all past Photos.

Your border has (from centre outwards) Brown > Black > Brown
This constitutes 3 borders.

There is a very clear margin between each and it was not caused by compression or when you uploaded to the site.

Site council members are trying very hard to come up with a rule/system which is both fair and enforceable. It is a difficult problem which has plagued the site since its inception and is more complex to solve than you might think -- refer to any of the several other current threads on the topic for a sampling...
It is not a joke, and it is mightily distracting for all of us.

With all the discussions lately, were you just testing?

I had a photo DQ'd for 1-2 pixels of inadvertent "padding" along one side. The answer to my argument about how "picky" they were being was that they (site council) had to enforce the rules AS WRITTEN (an as acknowledged by the submitters) or not at all.

If you added a black line and it ended up inside the outer margin of the brown background then I can only conclude that you used a selection tool in violation of the editing rules. It works best to only apply a border by increasing the canvas size with the desired color set to the Background (Photoshop -- adapt for your software), not to apply a stroke.

Please refrain from name-calling or extremely negative characterizations. I assure you, it will only prove a distraction from solving a problem site council members are far more frustrated with than even you (and the other DQ'd members)...

I was not testing , And I havent seen the discussions today. I have so far counted 8 pics posted in the landzcape submossions with 3 borders . by this definition.

The border rule is being reworked because of these types of problems. That said, the new rules will only apply to future challenges when they go into effect. As GeneralE mentioned, it's not easy to write a clear, understandable and enforceable border rule. The easy solution would be to go back to no borders, but people as a whole seem to like borders, so we're trying to take the time to eliminate the problem properly.

In the meantime, the current rule is "The photographer may add a border to a photograph if desired, but this border must consist of, at most, two concentric, nested, single-colored, rectangular borders. No text or other artwork may be added." (emphasis added). The rule then goes on to include a link to examples of acceptable borders.

Nested means one inside the other, and that's where you ran into a problem. Sorry for any confusion, all I can offer you is the assurance that we're spending a good deal of our time right now trying to make this right going forward. Expect an announcement shortly.

Keep in mind that the black line around the outside is added by the site. If this is not what you are referring to please feel free to PM me any links. This is the first I heard of this.

BadPig, you put a note in my photo saying it has 3 borders. I think the third border is the thin black border that DPChallenge adds to each picture for display. My border was created by increasing the canvas size twice. Once with a black background and once with a white background, the third black boarder wasn't added by me.
