Ok, do any of you use this accessory and if so, what do you think of it? (was wondering about the sturdiness, etc.)

You just asked that question in your other thread.
Sorry, its early and I haven't finished my tea. To answer your question, no, I think the mono-legs look very flimsy and don't trust them. I use tripod when I need perfect stability and monopod when on the run.

No, rather than the legs, if I need more stability for my monopod, I'd use the foot that a lot of them come with.

See the foot? Folds up, folds down. Very easy. :)

Yeah, I know I asked it in the other thread but I wasn't sure if anyone that had the accessory would necessarily check that other thread. I don't always have time to read every thread, etc. Anyway, thanks for your advice! :) I don't want to waste money on something if it doesn't work that well, etc.
Mavrik, I don't think the monopod that my son's getting me for Christmas has a foot like yours. That's why I was looking at the other legs. It does have the spiked foot thing that you can get for it. |

monopods are for maneuverability. I wouldn't use the legs.

I almost always use the monopod you are looking at and never use leg accessories. Like previously said they are for maneuverability and legs would jsut get in the way. When I need extra stability I lean the monopod torwards my body and step back and spread my legs. That gives me a three point stance and pretty good stability. I shot a 500mm lens this way. |

These are not intended to make a stable tripod out of a monopod. These are spread-the-load type legs, and they can be collapsed and stored inside the bottom of the monopod. They are very useful on shifting surfaces like sand, snow, etc, to keep the monopod from sinking under its own weight. I actually had a similar accesory years ago, didn't use it often but it was occasionally handy.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm more used to the tripod but wanted a monopod too. I know they move more so this idea helps.

When I bought my monopod the legs came with it. Actually it was one of the things that convinced me to buy that model. The legs are fairly sturdy and perform as they should. But they don't give the monopod anywhere near the stability necessary to shoot, especially with a lens/camera that has any weight to it. You can't use them to support the camera to shoot without holding it or the monopod, they are just too flexible. And the ones I have are not broad enough to make much difference in sand or snow. They are useful if you want to do something that requires both hands without laying the camera/monopod down. I usually leave the camera's strap around my neck as a safety. If I had it to do over again I would probably skip buying them.
