Hmm... less than 100 entries in phobiae, probably will end up ~140, and well over 200 entries in DOF, prolly going on 300+. Which one to enter!? I think that my DOF is better than the phobia, but the competition will be rougher there. I'll decide by tomorrow evening hopefully. |

voters "might" get tired of seeing through so many shallow DOF photos... Might affect the voting and scoring. We are all human. Just a thought.

Hy everybody!
One small question: does the name of the phobia realy need to appear in the title? I don't like the way it looks.....

Doesn't look like it from the challenge description. It says to put the phobia in the title or description of the image. We all know the voters don't read descriptions or at least not the entire description so you may get nailed for not having it in the title. ;) |

Hey Bianca. It doesn't matteer to me if the exact phobia was in the title. However, it does have to relate and not bind to your image. For instance, one can call, I suppose, fear of heights "Vertigo". However, this is just my own opinion. |

What are the chances that there will be a Phobia entry on "fear of entering photography contests?" (Late entrants -- feel free to steal this, I'm entering Shallow DOF.)
I was looking for the name for "fear of being photographed" but couldn't find one. There are plenty of people who have that one, though! (Photophobia is fear of light.)

Hey fotoman, yes, the irony is there, isn't it? I did celebrate having a technical challenge, but I just couldn't get inspired and came up with a great phobia shot and had to go with it. I was mostly rebelling against challenges which felt limiting, like Cheese. Soon we are going to see "Wooden box, less than 12 inches on a side" as a challenge. Phobia is fairly open though...
Most of the things I like to shoot with a shallow DOF are outside and we've had some wicked east winds here lately. East winds with temp in the 30s. Yuk. So it's freezing and nothing is holding still anyway. Phobia it is then...
(I did try some indoor stuff, but I thought it was pretty pedestrian so didn't pursue it.)

I'd assume that if you use the Latin for being photographed and append phobia after it, you'd be pretty close to the fear of being photographed.

Just call it "fear of being photographed". I wasn't aware we needed the latin name. Am I going to get voted down for not using it?

Mine too, I decided to entry into phobia, though. I'm really excited, this is the first time in forever that I've entered a challenge... |

I've seen photos voted down for less. One interpretation might be that all phobias must be from the list referenced in the challenge description. |

Well, I for one am going against that interpretation. My title will be in english and won't even be in "fear of X" format.
Just try to vote me down... :) |

I love this phobia idea , tho! It will bring some very creative shots I am sure!
Good Luck!! |

Yeah, but I think to achieve the desired effect for this challenge, you should have shot at a min. of f/22. :-P
