Had a shoot today for the paper and had a horrible time with my camera. Using a 430EX I got the following:
First Issue:
Manual mode, no problem
AV mode, no problem
Program mode, 1/200, at F32 with -2 Exp. Comp. OR 1/60 at F4 with 0 Exp. Comp.
I think I isolated the problem - when I put the flash on Manual the F stop goes really high. Does this happen to anyone else or is it a problem I need fixed?
I'm completely new to flash so rather clueless on this one...
Second issue:
Took all the images at the same time - within 1/2 hour of each other.
On camera, this shows correct.
Adobe Bridge EXIF shows the RAW files taken 5 hours earlier than the jpegs (3:49AM instead of 8:49AM). Anyone else seen this?
I'm at about 27K snaps but would have expected the shutter to cause a problem first...
Any help appreciated! |

P mode and the flash in manual will not work. FOr P mode the flash has to be in eTTL mode or you will see what you saw - fstops that are off the scale.
As for the time thing...you got me. Is it the conversion software? If i look at my files in XP's explorer window the dates/times are correct and in sequence just like the IMG_XXX numbers.

So its not me, in either case. Well, sorta not me. :)
I wonder why P mode does that? Didn't see it in the camera manual but I will eventually read the flash manual. ;)
I wonder how the time thing effects my submissions to DPC where time might be critical? What does the SC use to validate time and date?
Thanks for your help and quick responses. I can stop panic-ing now. I don't want a new camera until the 20D replacement comes out... |

I think it's in the Bridge and not the RAW file. The date on the RAW file itself is fine. I use RSP for my RAW conversion and the date/time is correct. |

You are absolutely correct. I checked in Photoshop but it is wrong but I also used Canon's file viewer and it was correct. Gotta be an adobe thing...
Thanks! |

So you could lose a Ribbon by using Bridge? I'd call Adobe on that one and demand a fix.
