Don't most malls have a Spencers Gifts store? If your mall does, you can get one there.

If you are in or near a large city, there will be a number of stores that sell them. I'd hestitate about buying one from a "novelty" store, worrying about long-term quality issues. These have to be well-built or they break down too often. I may be wrong on this, I donno. It's been over 25 years since I bought one, LOL.

Some party supply stores have them. Party City is an example of one. Good luck!

If your going to use it outside or in a large open space don't forget the poor mans fog machine, smoke bombs!. It's new years time and you can get the a dozen for a dollar. Stock up on those thing and you can have a fog (smoke) machine for a long time while deciding on a real one to buy.

I got my large one at Party City. I also found a small round coil that sits down in water and makes fog. I am not sure how heavy of fog you are after but this works well for a small amount. I got it at a party store as well. |

In the UK, Woolworths sometimes sell fog and bubble machines very cheaply. |

I got a fog machine off ebay two years ago. It didn't come with the timer, so I just taped the on and off switch to on so it would recycle and run automatically without having to constantly push a button every time you wanted fog. Also, if you want the fog to hover close to the ground you have to run the fog through ice to cool it off. I took one of those simple black plastic halloween witch's pots and cut a hole in the bottom and ran a cheap plastic tube from the spout of the fog machine up to the witch's pot which was filled with ice. So the fog came out of the pot and then hovered around the ground---it was a great effect that worked wonderfully. |

You can also use liquid nitrogen. It makes great fog.
When I was working 2nd shift in a lab that tests hydraulics for military aircraft, we often used LN2 to chill components or fluid as conditioning for a test. We had a big storage tank (maybe 2000 gal)out behind the building in a yard that was about 50 yds by 150 yds to get the stuff in the building, we'd use thes 30gal vacuum flasks. These had a relief valve that you had to open when filling the thing so it didn't explode. (You'd get hollered at good for blowing one up, they were expensive) Anyway, you'd open that relief valve and connect the big tank to the vacuum flask and open the main valve a little bit and wait. You had to fill the thing slow, so you couldn't just throw the main valve open. It took about 20 minutes to fill if you had it set right. Of course, when they filled the big tank, you didn't have to open the main valve quite so far. One night, they had filled up the tank, only I didn't know, so I opened the main valve to fill my flask and went back inside to check on a test that was running. Just as I was about to go outside and check on my flask, the security guard (We were making stuff for the military, so there were a LOT of security guards) comes tearing around the corner and says something like "What the hell are you doing out there!!" My partner and I look out the door and see the whole yard covered about 4 feet deep in very thick fog. Now these guys didn't know what it is really that we were doing and they weren't supposed to ask, nor were you supposed to tell them., so my partner looks at him and with a straight face says "You know I can't tell you that and you aren't supposed to ask in the first place." I just headed out through the fog and turned off the valve.

Hmmm........They usually don't call me anything when I binge on Mexican, most are clutching their throats, red in the face with the dry heaves and gasping for air.
