Wow, I finally made time this morning to look at some photos from my trip to Venice and Naples in May!
Let me know what you think...

Hi Bob,
Outstanding pictures. I am going to Venice, Florence and Tuscany in May 2006 and your pictures have added to my excitement about the trip. I hope you will post some more. A few questions. What was the weather like in May? How long did you stay and about how many pictures did you take? How did you store them? Larry

Yep! And there are still loads of other things today I should have been doing instead but I'm trying to wind down for Christmas today.

I don't really remember the weather much, Venice was a bit overcast and Naples was quite clear as far as I remember. I stayed in Venice for about 3 days, and Naples for about a week, but much of my visit in Naples was spent socialising as we went for a wedding in Ravello. I took thousands of photos and saved them on a portable hard disk.

what kind of processing did you do to them. The detail is wonderful
12/19/2005 07:29:15 AM · #10
Just curves and sharpening. Some of them had a touch of NeatImage. That's it!
12/19/2005 07:29:55 AM · #11
Oh yeah, I did burn the sky a tad on a couple of them.

retained alot of detail there. Do you do the usual fade unsharp mask - luminousity overlay? Kind of like lab colour shapening and blur but better

Usual USM, but I did actually blur some of the photos afterwards then reduce the effect, which took the bite out of some of the aggresive sharpening I'd done.

That and the Image Stabilisation are why I got the camera! No tripods... very handy at music festivals and gigs.

Thankyou all for your kind comments!

Nice stuff here Bobster. I'd suggest you square up the verticals on the "Santa Maria" one; don't worry about the two poles on the left, they'll look natural being off-square. It's a very nice shot but it REALLY bothers me how the building is leaning over; that's Venice, not Pisa :-)

Oops, I'll see if I can find some time for that one!
