I recently purchased an LCD monitor and am amazed at the difference. problem is, I think I'm seeing things that people on CRT's can't. Am I the only one that can see the rings around the sun in Zorba's red ribbon pic? Or the target like circles in the center of nordly's red ribbon winner? Perhaps I should stop voing in challenges, because I'm asuming everyone can see this, and I'm voting accordingly. |

Check and make sure your video display is set to 32 bit color.

The artifacts you speak of are there, just not very promiment (read, barely visible) at 32bit color. There are two things to look into immediately, one is the number of colors (both become quite visible at 16bit color). The other is make sure your monitor is running at it's native resolution. The manual will tell you what that is, and setting it otherwise will cause the monitor to interpolate the image.
The only other thing to try before taking the monitor back is to calibrate it.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that many of the new "gaming" high speed TFTs are not capable of displaying full 24bit colour (I think they are 18 bit??).
I'll do some searching to see if I can find the original information, I think it was Anandtech.com. I might be worth checking what the output display specs are for your monitor (not the allowed input signals). |

Found it, check this link. Then maybe it's time to find out exactly what your monitor is based on
