Here we go again... |
I don't see what's wrong with stating an opinion (which seems to be based on personal experience). Although it's not the only reason for such a request, it certainly is a possibility. I had a boyfriend who was very enthusiastic about shaved pubes.
Eventually, I discovered that he was a porn addict with an emphasis on "Barely Legal". I was very disappointed to learn that he was most interested in images of women who were doing their best to look like little girls, as well as images of those who were prepubescent. Not especially healthy for a man in his late 30s, if you ask me.
Now who can say that a woman shouldn't be creeped out by a man like this asking her to shave it off? |
I looked at how old she was and considered her to be asking an honest question and stating an honest opinion. When we were that age wouldn't we have 'wondered' but probably not asked?
Roxanne: I had an opposite experience of you! My child's dad.....I thought I would 'surprise' him and shaved.....horrible experience! He was pissed and thought I was a 'sicko' for even thinking of doing that! I was humiliated, horrified and extremely embarrased all at one time! I was.....25 (i think) and he was 39. I thought 'I' was some kind of pervert for awhile until I got the guts to speak to a girlfriend about it!

I can't remember the last time I've seen (in person) a woman that hasn't shaved or neatly trimmed her pubes. Between models, boudior clients and lovers, I haven't seen a full bush in years, nor have I seen any unshaven underarms, legs, etc.
On the pubes subject ... I don't mind pubes at all .. They should be kept neat, especially if I'm to be venturing my face down there.
Underarm hairs, ehhh, doesn't matter as long as you don't look like you have Buchwheat (from the Little Rascals) in a headlock. Leg hairs, as long as they don't cut me ...but I don't want bushy legs either.

I've been socialized this way, but armpit hairs on a woman ... eewwwwww! Hairy legs too. I hate it when women only shave under their knee and leave the top part unshaven thinking it won't show in a skirt. Then they bend down .. eeeeeekkkkkkk. Anyhow, like I said, I've bee socialized that way, but I appreciate my wife staying "groomed". What can you do. |

Women should be clean shaven except their outter arms, head, eyebrows and a neatly trimmed...bush.
Men, on the other hand should be hairy. Back, chest, ass, legs, underarms, face, everywhere...except the top of their head ;-] |

I love how women ask men how they think women should look, then when men tell them, the women get irate.

LOL! I NEVER tell women how they should look...If they want to look like the Sasquatch or the Yeti it's their prerogative...I however personally don't care much for the sasquatch look though... :P |

Anyway - it's not so much men telling women how they should look as it is about what men prefer - and obviously it varies, but the concensus here seems to be - no hair.
For the women who are put off by feeling pressured by men to look a certain way - it cuts both ways - most women probably would prefer me to have a different "six-pack" than the one in my fridge. :) |

If you ever wonder why men hesitate to answer a woman when they ask something -- this is it. Even if it's not the same woman that did the asking.

shaved pubs = sick mental state????????
Come of folks, it's hair -- it has as much attachment to your mental state as your toenails do. As Chiqui has pointed out, body hair clumping in certain parts of the body is a throw-back to when smell was a good thing. For good or ill, it's not needed in current cultures. As far as why men like shaved pubs -- girls, if you dated a guy that had his brows so thick and long that you could never see his face or kiss him without getting a mouthful of hair, wouldn't you be glad to see the hair trimmed back? Shaving the area makes it more... um, accessible -- if you want to find something pervertish about wanting a partner to be accessible, so be it.
Personally I never shaved my facial hair (what I have of it) until I got married. The wife doesn't like it scratching when short or tickling when long -- so I shave regularly. Does that make her perverted, or make me a sell-out? It's just part of the normal give and take of a healthy relationship -- She doesn't get scratched or tickled and I get to kiss her and know that if she squirms it's not because she's uncomfortable. It's a win-win situation.

I'm hoping this is a term for something other than what it literally says - or a typo. :/
Regarding Colyla's post - that sucks. Glad you spoke to someone about it - and hopefully in a better relationship now. |

no one asked how someone *should* look just the opinion of. And i wasn't irrate (apparently even a smiley doesn't cut it on these boards anymore ;))
I was just extending on Beetles point that most women don't shave for the right reasons but because men call them yetis or asume they stink if they don't.
I'm not one of those women (as you would have noticed if you read my earlier post). And David - my guess is because they don't have the balls to stand up for thier opinions lol. |

Why is doing something to please your spouse or to attract someone not the right reason? |

oh my spouse is plenty pleased ken lol
doing it for your spouse is fine, doing it for fear of what strangers might think is not. That goes for most everything, not just hair. |

Just the fact that I actually read every post on this thread tells how bored I am right now. ;-)
My personal preference.. not because society says I have to.. is to shave. From eyebrows up, it stays, everywhere else is fair game.
Luckily, I'm not a hairy to begin with, so I can go a little while in between.
Do I consider myself a pervert because I do? Well... define pervert. ;-) Just because we choose to shave doesn't mean we are conformists, nor does it mean we are nonconformists for that matter.
I do it for personal reasons... thankfully I even get to reap the extra benefits from it. :-D
I do agree though - in a relationship, there is not a thing wrong with doing something that you know your spouse/fiance, whatever, would enjoy. That's what it is about, if you love someone, you do it just because.
