nothing can rescue that photo, but I think this version is a little easier on the eye...

no kidding, actually that was a big improvement though.
they had the painter (who is painting the ceilings) shoot the pics...obviously! lol...

And my guess is that no-one pointed out to him that clicking the shutter is a two-step process..... he didn't give the camera time to do its calculations :-(
Perhaps she could re-do the pic with a timer on a tripod or a desk? |

i have been trying to talk her into reshooting...she says she cant wait anymore. the pics are for xmas cards and she has to get them out (and printed, stamped, and put in envelopes) on monday...so i think i'm just going to try to blend it into the background of the paper.
as soon as she told me the painter shot i was appauled! but you know how moms are....lol.
:)
thank you so much for your help

I used PS CS2, smart sharpen and set it to motion blur.
Then I was quite heavy handed with the pixels..... about 4-5, WAY more than usual. I also played with the direction of the blur compensation until it looked as good as I could get it.
And Lisa - you're very welcome :-) |

I say, go the opposite rotue of sharpening or blurring and go to the full extreme and make it artistic
Here, I've used some artistic style effects, the details of the photo are now less important but I believe it maintains a fair amount of christmas cheer as originally presented. |

Hmmm....yeah it's really quite blurry! I wonder how long it will take until Ken adds a godzilla and some fire! ;) |

Here's my go at it.
----------- Original ------------------ Edit 1 --------------------- Edit 2 --------------------- Edit 3 ------------
Open each and switch in the taskbar to see changes.
These were all done using PS CS2 only.

Maybe some moodlight or radiance...something that would work with the blur.

gurlwithapen, I ran it thru focus magic, and it made a big improvement. Not perfect by any means, but much better to my eye at least (focus wise). How do I get the file back to you? I'm not a paid member here, so don't have a portfolio to post it. Let me know how to get it to you and I'll send it.

Focus Magic, BG cloning, color balance to neutral.
This one YOU can work with to adjust colors as you see fit. BG is easily selectable with magic wand.

Thank you so much everyone! You've saved me again! :)
We put together the final version today...The photo ended up being a clear-ish background, like a watermark sort of thing. thats the only way it looks halfway decent!
thanks again!
